Readmission to CHASS
Students who withdrew from the University in good academic standing are eligible to apply for readmission by submitting a readmission application and meeting with the Departmental Academic Advisor for their major. Please see the information below on Readmission Processing & Deadlines.
Students who were dismissed from the University and are seeking readmission into a CHASS major should schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor in the Student Academic Affairs Office. In many cases, students will be asked to complete UCR courses through Concurrent Enrollment at UCR Extension Center or through UCR Summer Sessions in order to repair their GPA. Academic Advisors will provide additional details on readmission requirements specific to the student’s situation. Students will also have to meet with the Departmental Academic Advisor for approval to readmit into their major. After they have met all of the requirements, they can apply for readmission through the process below.
Students seeking readmission into other colleges (CNAS, COE, SOBA) should contact the appropriate college for information on readmission.
Readmission Processing & Deadlines
When you are ready to apply for readmission, fill out the Undergraduate Application for Readmission. Submit it in person or via U.S. mail to CHASS Student Academic Affairs. The application must be received by deadline, by 4 PM, for the term into which you seek readmission. Include unofficial transcripts for any coursework you have taken since you left the University (e.g. concurrent enrollment through UCR Extension, community college courses, etc.). If you were dismissed, you must also include a letter describing your academic goals and/or what changes you have made to ensure academic success.
Once your readmission application is acted on, you will receive an email to the address you listed on your application. If it is approved, pick up your finalized readmission application from our office, pay the $70 readmission fee at the Cashier’s Office, and submit the finalized application to the Office of the Registrar. The Registrar will re-activate you as a UCR student and assign your enrollment period. Then, have official transcripts for any work taken since you left the University sent to Undergraduate Admissions.

Winter 2017: September 22, 2016
Spring 2017: January 9, 2017
Please do not wait until the last day to file your readmission application. It is to your advantage to submit your application as soon as you have completed the readmission criteria and have all of the appropriate documents. Students who submit their applications in advance of the deadline will receive a quicker response compared to students who submit their applications on or near the deadline day.
Note: If the deadline day does not fall on a normal business day, the effective deadline is the last business day prior to the deadline day. Applications will only be accepted during office hours.
Graduation for Non-Active Students (Formally known as Graduation in Absentia)
Effective 2017 Winter, the Readmission Application is no longer required for purposes of applying for graduation, if you have been away from UCR one or more quarters. Formally known as readmission to graduate in absentia.
Submit the Graduation Application first in R’Web then a second Graduation Application on the CHASS Student Academic Affairs website. Applications can only be filed during the designated filing period. Step 1. Log into R’Web and click on Student Account, Student Services, Academic History, then Graduation Application. After you answer all the questions you will receive instructions to submit the CHASS Application for Graduation.
Step 2. Log into the CHASS Application for Graduation. You will receive an automatic email confirmation when you have submitted the application.
