Information for Students

The summer research experience will be an 8 week program. The student is expected to work 20 hours per week on the project and will be compensated with $8/hour. The student will also write a final report on the project and present it at a seminar/conference at the beginning of fall quarter (exact time and place to be determined).

There are several ways to participate and choose a project:

  • Students may choose to work on a "faculty provided" project where the faculty has worked closely with a specific community organization in the past, but where the student needs to contact the community organization and propose a project.
  • Students may choose to work with a community organization that has proposed a project, but needs to find a faculty member willing to work with them.
  • Students can submit their own project proposal to work with a community organization and faculty mentor not listed on this site

For examples of community-oriented projects (part of the Public Policy Internship), please follow this link: http://ppi.ucr.edu/programs/index.html.

The due date for applications is May 19, 2006. Awards will be announced on May 24, 2006.
