Transition Advising

Future AheadCollege of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) Majors

Students pursuing majors in CNAS must be eligible to declare a CNAS major within their first year of residency. For most students this means the end of their Spring quarter of Freshmen year.

Students must be eligible for Calculus based Math (MATH006A, MATH009A, MATH009B, MATH005).

Students that place into MATH004 must have their Math adjusted to CNAS based Math with their Academic Advisor. Students with an adjusted Math placement of ARC035 must complete it by Fall of their Freshman year.

To have you math placement adjusted, submit a request here.

Students must pass all CNAS major change course requirements on first attempt. Students who do not pass on the first attempt will no longer be eligible to pursue a major in CNAS and must declare a CHASS major. Grades below a C- are not permitted for major change criteria.

Students are required to meet quarterly with the CHASS Transition Liaison to monitor progress towards CNAS majors.

Students must also adhere to CNAS major change criteria: http://cnasstudent.ucr.edu/majors/

Students with remaining questions should contact Karen Mitchell @ karen.mitchell@ucr.edu
