Academic Advising


Greetings CHASS Pre-business and Undeclared Students: 

We will not have any appointments and drop-ins on March 26 and 27 because we will be attending the UCR Staff Conference.

Please remember that drop-in advising hours are like office hours where you can meet with us so that we can answer your registration questions, discuss registration holds, and answer questions about changing the grading basis of a course (S/NC). Please remember that during drop-in advising hours, you can meet with any available Advisor and are not restricted to meeting with your assigned Advisor. Effective Spring 2022, both in-person and remote advising will be available. When offered, students will have the option to select in-person or remote appointments with their Academic Advisor, Monday-Thursday (subject to availability). Once your appointment is confirmed, a detailed confirmation email with instructions will be sent to your R’mail address.

If you're a CHASS Undeclared or Pre-Business student, please make an appointment with your advisor according to the first letter of your last name.

To make an appointment or view your academic advisor’s drop-in availability

If you have a remote appointment with your academic advisor, prior to your scheduled time, please check in at and follow these steps:

  1. Click “Your Appointment”
  2. Find your appointment and click “Appointment Check-in”
  3. Click “Go To Zoom Meeting” when you’re ready to enter the meeting

If you are unable to access Zoom for your advising session, please email your advisor. If you contact your advisor more than five minutes after your scheduled time, your appointment will be canceled.

If you have an in-person appointment, please log in at our kiosk, in our lobby (3400 HMNSS), within 5 minutes of your scheduled time.  If you are not present within 5 minutes, your appointment will be canceled.

If you are logging in for a drop-in, please be aware that drop-ins are only 6 minutes long. If you need more assistance, please schedule an appointment. Please check in at and follow these steps:

  1. Click “Walk-in Advising”
  2. Pick your advisor from the available group
  3. Position in line information will be displayed
  4. Click on “Go To Zoom Meeting” to enter the meeting

When your advisor is ready to chat with you, they will admit you to the meeting. If you are contacting your advisor during walk-ins, it may take 10-15 minutes for them to meet with you, depending on the number of students accessing walk-ins. If we have reached the maximum amount of walk-ins, we may not be able to meet with you. In that case, please check when another advisor has walk-ins.
