Pre-Business (PRBS) Program
Welcome to Pre-Business at the University of California, Riverside!
Pre-Business is a two-year program to prepare students to apply to Business Administration. Students who enter UCR as freshmen initially enroll and are advised in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences in a Pre-Business status.
Students seeking to join the Pre-business Program must meet the following criteria:
- Students must have less than 60 earned units at UCR (AP/IB units excluded)
- Students must be able to qualify for the Business Administration major upon completion of 120 earned units at UCR
- Students must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA and a 2.5 GPA in Pre-business preparation courses
- Students must have a Math Placement Assessment score or AP/IB or transfer credit for math
- Students must be in good academic standing
- Students admitted as transfers cannot join the Pre-business program
The college breadth requirements and the prerequisites for a Business Administration major are completed during the freshman and sophomore years. An application to Business Administration is submitted once all college breadth and Pre-business preparation requirements are completed. Upon acceptance, students become Business Administration majors and are then advised in the School of Business.
In addition to college breadth and Pre-business preparation requirements, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 is required. A minimum 2.5 GPA in the Pre-business preparation area is also required.
This website provides you with the Pre-Business Worksheets that are used to record your progress in completing the breadth and business prerequisites. The website will also answer general questions you may have regarding academic options available to Pre-Business majors; eligibility requirements; application procedures for the Business Administration major; and much more.
